2. Not Targeting Other Promotions
Interestingly, during a 2-hour press conference, the association expressed zero interest in targeting any fight promotions not named UFC. The fighters featured at the press conference were all UFC contracted fighters and the messaging was all about UFC’s unfair practices.
This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise however, after all the UFC was sold for $4 billion earlier this year. While those with an ownership stake in the company, such as Dana, were able to cash-in off the sale, fighters have grown increasingly frustrated and vocal about their payment. Fighters such as Tim Kennedy, Joanne Calderwood and Donald Cerrone have all openly complained about their pay this year.
But the main reason the MMAAA will screw over Dana White has nothing to do with MMA at all. It has everything to do with the new UFC owners, and enemies they have made in the past.
