Incredible Statistics of a Legend

While GSP’s style is heavily reliant on wrestling, it doesn’t mean that he possesses no striking ability. GSP is no Anderson Silva by any means, but his defense against heavy-handed punchers is astounding.

One huge aspect of GSP’s offensive arsenal is the constant threat of takedowns. GSP’s takedown success rate is a whopping 75 percent and he owns the most successful takedowns of any fighter in UFC history.

Although McGregor was able to avoid going to the ground in UFC 202 against Nate Diaz, that certainly won’t be the case against GSP who is a master at getting people to the mat.

Apart from this, GSP also has the highest takedown defense rate in UFC welterweight history at 88% and the highest significant striking defense rate in UFC welterweight history at 75%.

These are impressive stats to say the least, all of which spell doom for McGregor who makes a living beating other fighters to a pulp in the stand-up realm. GSP would be too accurate with getting him to the mat, that McGregor would someway have to figure out how to deal with him there.
