#4 Ranked Michael Chandler just sent a tweet that oozes VIOLENCE. He promises that he won’t step backward against Justin Gaethje. Is it a smart idea? Definitely not but it does make the fans excited. Justin Gaethje has great counterstriking abilities that could sleep anyone with one strike. Gaethje’s last four wins ended in KO. Chandler is nuts if he goes in head forward and throws aimlessly but then again he might have a strategy. Gaethje has been to a decision in his UFC run.
Here is a promise to you all…I’m coming forward with reckless abandon. He will take the first backward step. #ufc268

Chandler has an upcoming lightweight fight against #2 ranked Justin Gaethje at UFC 268. The fight is a guaranteed banger as most fans would also agree, both fighters just show up and entertain the fans whether they win or lose.
It is an intriguing match-up as both came from a D1 wrestling background but are known for their heavy hands. Justin Gaethje has said that he is willing to lose by brutal knockout rather than go to a boring decision win. Gaethje is called “the highlight” for a reason. All of his wins always end up with Fight of the Night or Performance of the Night bonuses which is an INSANE feat to have.
As for Chandler, he was so close to becoming the next undisputed champion as he almost finished Charles Oliveira in the first round but sadly that’s MMA, anything can happen in a split second. Oliveira stayed composed and eventually caught Chandler with a hook that led to a finish.
It will be an important lightweight clash as both are currently top 5 ranked fighters that are coming off a title loss. The winner may not get a title shot right off the bat but it will surely bring them closer to a title shot. The match-up on paper guarantees that the fight will be fireworks no matter who wins.
Chandler has been known to have a great start and Gaethje’s new style as well. Before Gaethje was known for going to war until one crumble from the damage but now he has come out as taking his opponent’s head off. Similar to Chandler, who knocked out a durable Dan Hooker for his UFC debut.
Who do you think will come out on top? Both fighters were champions in other promoters but they are still yet to take the undisputed title, and they cannot afford to lose here because it will give them a major setback and might not give them another title shot for good. Either way, this is a type of fight that even though it is not a title fight, it is still a must-watch fight.
