Matt Brown
Matt Brown appeared on the verge of being released by the UFC back in late 2011 after losing four of his previous five fights, all by submission.
Brown had other ideas though and a TKO win over Chris Cope got him back to winning ways, before handing Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson the first loss of his MMA career.
Things would get even better as ‘The Immortal’ continued to defy expectations and put together five more wins in a row, all coming by way of strikes inside the distance.
Along the way he’d knock out Mike Swick on FOX, TKO Jordan Mein with elbows, render Mike Pyle unconscious in 29 seconds and then TKO Erick Silva.
Now on a 7-fight winning streak, Brown suddenly found himself in a title elimination fight with Robbie Lawler, and though he lost by decision, his late career run of victories will last long in the memory.
