Maybe this time Floyd Mayweather will be facing a bit more stiff competition. Perhaps even someone with a professional boxing match under their belt…

When Floyd Mayweather announced he would be boxing Conor McGregor, it was truly a strange experience. Suddenly, anyone who had been following combat sports for years was able to engage in conversation about a UFC champion with just about anyone.

Often this is the case with massive fights, as they draw the attention of the casual fan. Within the market of pay-per-view audiences the hardcore fans will always be there and so McGregor vs. Mayweather was all about name power.

When they finally met in the ring on August 26, the reality was not hard to see. Everyone who paid to see the Irish star topple the undefeated heel was sorely disappointed. McGregor couldn’t overcome the vast wealth of experience Mayweather possessed.

Mayweather rode off into retirement with his ‘0’ intact, or so we thought…

Mayweather Comeback Rumour Already Starts

Soon after Mayweather vs. McGregor was done,m the undefeated boxing champion claimed he would never fight again. Citing his age and family, ‘Money’ said his time in the ring was now officially over.

Recent reports and chatter would indicate the opposite, as Middle Easy and also Amir Khan have stirred the pot:

“Some unforeseen new tax issues, on top of his previous tax problems, for Floyd Mayweather may force the unbeaten boxer back to the ring for yet another farewell bout. This Mayweather return would be targeted for the third quarter of 2018 in Las Vegas.”

Khan’s Comments Continued…

I know it’s been a year I’ve not fought due to hand surgery. I’m ready to make comeback at 30 years of age. Say what you like Canelo was getting outboxed. I was winning on cards. He had power and caught me with a huge right. That’s Boxing. Mayweather doesn’t have the power.

And what do you know, just one day after these reports surfaced, Mayweather is back in the gym training. Watch the viral video he posted to Instagram:

Speaking to CNN before the McGregor fight, CEO for Mayweather boxing and fitness, James Williams, discussed Mayweather’s plans for post-fighting life:

The flagship Mayweather Boxing and Fitness is set to open in Los Angeles in November. Franchise gyms and affiliate partnerships at established fitness brands will follow, according to James Williams, the CEO of Mayweather Boxing and Fitness.

“He wanted to create something where everyone could participate, so the flagship will be more expensive but then the franchise and affiliate levels will be more economical,” Williams said.

“Floyd wants a successful global business, but he doesn’t want to be exclusive,” Williams said. “He wants to enable others to train like he has for the past 20 years.”

The brand will also be accompanied by a free app, enabling users to join in live-streamed training sessions.
