6. Mark Coleman

The “Godfather of Ground and Pound” Mark Coleman is not as financially secure as he would have been had his career taken place 10 years later. He also says he wasn’t bribed to take a dive in Pride, he was just told they’d schedule him for another fight. In hindsight, he maybe should have asked for more money.
In 2015, UFC alum Wes Sims, set up a GoFundMe page for Coleman, who was unable to pay for his medical bills, and was looking at going on disability. The page raised over $50,000 for Coleman and has since been deactivated.
Sims was quoted as saying the following regarding Coleman’s situation:
Mark currently has no income. His insurance is about to end, and we are currently looking into disability. I am looking to raise funds to help his cost of living, doctor bills, medication, and make up what he will lose in the next few months in appearances he will miss. Anything will help and thank you dearly! God Bless!
