2. Rousimir Palhares vs. Jake Shields WSOF 22

If you check the record books for World Series of Fighting’s 22nd event, it will show that Rousimir Palhares defeated Jake Shields via kimura.

What the record books for that night might not show however, is that Palhares was suspended for 2 years as a result of his actions during that fight. Pahares, who has been accused of holding submissions too long after fights are over, once again held onto the kimura after the ref went to end the fight, and the athletic commission saw fit to suspend him 2 years for it. The lengthy suspension was as a result of his repeated inability to let go of submissions, and not this one incident. Similar incidents led to his release from the UFC in 2013.

Shields and others would also accuse Palhares of repeatedly eye gouging him during the bout.

Despite the suspension, Palhares is still technically listed as the winner of his fight against Shields.
