Tank Abbott claims to have had over 100 street fights before he made his UFC debut, and that he didn’t lose a single one of them. Clearly the people he was facing in these street fights didn’t realize how quickly he gasses out if the pace is pushed early.
Abbott spent six months in jail once for severely beating up the son of a police detective. He was working at a liquor store and evidently the guy wasn’t as police as Tank felt he should have been.
A pioneer of mixed martial arts, Abbott got his start in the sport by sending in an application to be part of UFC 6. He was never any good, but that didn’t matter.
