7. Diego Sanchez vs Martin Kampmann UFC Live: Sanchez vs. Kampmann
This fight was the main event of a card held in March of 2011, and won fight of the night honors.
It was a tense back and forth contest, that while very competitive, looked to have been won by Kampmann. Sanchez came out looking very bloodied out of the fight, having been outstruck 97-45 and in significant strikes 50-39.
A chorus of boos reigned down after the decision was announced and Joe Rogan seemed to agree with that sentiment. When asked about the decision Kampmann said he believed he won all 3 rounds, and pointed to the appearance of Diego Sanchez’s face as evidence.
It didn’t hurt Kampmann any, he won his next 3 fights to rocket up the welterweight division. Once he got up with the elite at 170lbs however, he was knocked out in the 1st round by pre-USADA Johny Hendricks, and then stopped by Carlos Condit. He took a hiatus from fighting after the Condit loss and now plays professional poker.
