Honorable Mention: Conor McGregor (6)
Conor McGregor’s rise to stardom has been downright epic. His transcendent pace within the UFC’s barbaric featherweight division is nothing short of amazing.
But when you step back and analyze how “The Notorious” wound up just three weeks away from a showdown with long-time champion Jose Aldo at UFC 194, his six-fight UFC win streak isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Say what you will, it seems very obvious that McGregor’s opponents have been hand picked to satisfy his near-elite striking. Guys like Dustin Poirier, Marcus Brimage, Dennis Siver, and Diego Brandao are all mid-tier entities who dramatically fell victim to the Irishman’s power.
That’s not to say a 6-0 start in one of the most stacked weight classes around isn’t impressive, but victories over an out-of-shape Chad Mendes and an inexperienced Max Holloway (at the time) are the interim king’s biggest attainments to date.
