Conor McGregor KO Jose Aldo

The highly-anticipated McGregor-Aldo matchup at UFC 194 was significant because up until this point, McGregor had not yet faced a bonafide featherweight A-lister.

Many fans and observers feel other, more deserving fighters, should have received a shot at Jose Aldo and his then UFC featherweight strap, but due to genius self-promotion, McGregor landed the title shot, leapfrogging everyone else in line.

Even when the contracts were signed, the trash talk never ceased from McGregor’s end. Aldo, maybe due to cultural differences and an evident language barrier, just wasn’t into returning any verbal fire. McGregor was in Aldo’s head and that’s all he needed to score an amazing one-punch KO.

As soon as the opening bell sounded, Aldo came rushing out of the gates looking intent finally putting hands on McGregor. ‘The Notorious’ took a step back, and uncorked a vicious left straight that landed right on the button.

In one fell swoop, McGregor had pulled off the upset of a lifetime and became the new UFC featherweight champ.
