9. Demetrius Johnson vs. Dominick Cruz II

Demetrius Johnson has been the UFC flyweight champion ever since the UFC debuted their flyweight division.

Originally when the UFC absorbed the WEC and brought in lower weight divisions, Dana White promised the public that we would get “super-fights” between champions, but that has yet to really materialize.

Johnson has said that he wants to surpass Anderson Silva’s title defence streak (10) before taking on another champion. If that’s the case he may do so at the peril of his division, which was struggling to garner interest as it is. A super-fight between the two most dominant champions of the lower weight divisions might be just what the smaller weight classes need.

The last time these two fighters met it was 2011 and was for the inaugural bantamweight championship. Cruz won via unanimous decision that night, but Johnson has improved greatly since that time.
