The last UFC fight of the year featured Stephon Thompson vs Geoff Neal. Wonderboy showed a masterclass in the striking department. He proved to the welterweight division that he is not just a gatekeeper and is ready to make a title run once more.

Geoff Neal cannot figure out Thompson’s puzzle of striking. Wonderboy just fought smart, fast, and just simply superior in the standup. Neal somehow was just looking for the big strike to end the fight while Thompson just fought technically and won the rounds. Even though the fight ended in a 50-45 decision, Neal had moments that hit Thompson.

The King of Rio, Jose Aldo also won after a 3 fight skid. Aldo beat Chito Vera in a close but decisive decision. Vera had a smart gameplan with grappling and closing the distance. Going into the last round the fight was up grabs since it was 1-1. Aldo successfully got Vera’s back that sealed the deal for Aldo. The fight ended with all 3 judges scoring (29-28).

Jose Aldo is calling out TJ Dillashaw as his next opponent. Dillashaw is the former bantamweight champion that got suspended for PED usage. Dillashaw is a highly ranked bantamweight since he was the former champion.

The fight with Michel Pereira against Khaos Williams lacked the action that most fans anticipated. Pereira was well aware of Williams’s knockout power and just fought smart. Pereira kept his distance and mixed his grappling and striking. Williams was just waiting for the big strike. Williams though had better cardio than expected and was still throwing until the last round.

Rob Font also managed to beat Marlon Moraes in an impressive fashion. He had the best finish in the main card. Moraes is a high ranked bantamweight that fought for the title and is known to have tremendous knockout power. One weakness that Moraes has shown is that he fights bad on the backpedal.

Moraes may be in trouble for a cut since he is on a back to back the loss and is 1-3 in his last 4 fights. Most fans think that he lost the fight against Aldo as well, after his loss against Cejudo he does not seem like the boogeyman of the division.

In the main card opener, Greg Hardy has been stopped for the first in the UFC. Hardy was known to be a gifted athlete that showed promise due to his size advantage and athletic background.

Hardy eventually gassed out in the later rounds and showed huge weakness in the ground game. Hardy is still new to the sport but has shown huge success. Tybura is an elite heavyweight that has a lot of experience.

The fight card had a lot of fights canceled due to COVID issues but still, it was overall an entertaining fight but lacked the finishes that were expected.
