Although the UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor is still undefeated at 145 pounds, he has a lot to prove at welterweight. When he was matched with Nate Diaz at UFC 196 many believed the Irishman would emerge victorious.

Nothing could have been further from the truth as Diaz, on just 11 days notice, squashed McGregor. Replacing Rafael dos Anjos when the lightweight champ was injured, Diaz looked a little soft in the pre-fight week, leading to McGregor having a heavy favorite status.

As it turned out, the betting odds were once again meaningless. Diaz out-boxed a tired McGregor in the second round, eventually leading to ‘The Notorious’ shooting for a takedown.

It was done from there, as Diaz sunk in a tight rear naked choke when McGregor attempted to roll out of the mount. The Stockton bad boy’s win raised a lot of questions over McGregor’s grappling skills, but it seems he’s also been focusing a lot on getting better at boxing too.

As well as working with Dillon Danis on his Jiu Jitsu and the Irish Olympic boxing team, Conor McGregor has been regularly sparring with former boxing champion Chris Van Heerden. Just yesterday (July 4, 2016) a brand new video emerged of the two boxing training for McGregor’s UFC 202 rematch with Nate Diaz.

McGregor and Van Heerden can be seen trading shots in a 6-minute sparring session, but it’s led to some accusations being thrown around by the pro boxer.
