Unbelievable performance by Stipe Miocic…

Last night we had a very interesting situation in the UFC 211 main event. Facing the last man to beat him in the octagon, Stipe Miocic had the added challenge of defending his belt this time around.

Junior dos Santos, looking in great shape and motivated, wanted to make it 2-0 against Miocic. Riding a hot streak of four knockouts leading in to the rematch, the champion looked absolutely unstoppable.

Miocic Pummelled Junior

It was all about the boxing of Miocic last night, and he looked razor sharp. Exposing the holes in JDS’ game, the champion landed to the head and body at will. Eventually connecting with a flush right hand, it was over when dos Santos slumped to the canvas.

Closing in on heavyweight title history, Miocic continues his unlikely reign in the face of his doubters. The loss for dos Santos led to commentators Brian Stann and Tyron Woodley tearing him a new one during the highlight video.

What’s Next?

Unfortunately for Junior dos Santos, the game seems to be catching up to him. The brutal wars against Cain Velasquez and Stipe Miocic, the knockout loss to Alistair Overeem and now the KO loss to the champ.

Perhaps it’s time to start considering either retirement or fun fights in the heavyweight division? Time waits for no man, and sadly it looks like JDS might be out of the title picture for good now.

Who is The Next Contender?

Taking to the microphone after his big win, the champ Miocic mentioned Francis Ngannou as a next opponent. Outside of the scary Ngannou, there really aren’t many more viable contenders.

Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum are set to lock horns again, and Derrick Lewis probably needs one more win before being considered to face the top end of the division. Having beaten Werdum, Overeem and now dos Santos as champion, the future is certainly bright for Stipe Miocic.
