Sapp recently won in his return to kickboxing, defeating Akebono in a rematch for Rizin on their big December 31st 2015 show. The fight against Akebono was contested under shoot boxing rules, and counts as Sapp’s first pro kickboxing victory since 2010.

Sapp retired for the first time in 2014, stating that he had paid off all his medical debts and was now looking to enjoy retirement. With Rizin looking to bring back Pride from the dead however, Sapp was an easy choice for them to add to their roster.
Now Bob Sapp is back, and he’s doing just as good as he always did, which is to say he’s not doing very good at all.
