Ahmed Wali Hotak

With a 7-1 record and appearances in the SFL and Fight Nights Global promotions, Ahmed Wali Hotak was steadily working his ways up the lightweight ranks until he found his life in danger last year.

Hotak hails from Afghanistan, but had spent six months training in The United States for his next FNG bout.

However, he had returned to his native country and was making his way by car to his home in October of last year when a group opened fire on his vehicle and then attempted to drag him out of it.

Hotak was reportedly shot in the stomach and stabbed in the head during the attack, but managed to put up enough of a fight that the assailants fled the scene.

Horrifying video of Hotak bleeding heavily from his wounds on the way to hospital later appeared online.

Thankfully, Hotak survived the attack and speculation in the aftermath of the incident suggested that it might have been a botched attempt at a kidnapping.

Hotak has yet to return to fighting since the incident.
