Joseph Nehm
Not all attacks on referee’s are intentionally malicious, as this fight between Joseph Nehm and Ryse Brink at Knockout Promotions 54 in 2017 shows.
Brink made his mark immediately in the fight as he landed a front kick to the face and then blasted the dazed Nehm with a barrage of powerful blows to the head that resulted in a knockout finish just 10 seconds into the bout.
Nehm was so out of it afterwards that he groggily double-legged the referee, took his back and went for a rear-naked choke – apparently unaware that the fight was over and his opponent was in fact up on the cage celebrating by this stage.
It wasn’t until Nehm’s own cornermen rushed in and started pleading with him to let go that it slowly dawned on him what was happening and he did as he was told, then later apologized to the official, who luckily hadn’t been injured.
Nehm hasn’t fought again since the incident.
