#2 If McGregor Wins, He Will Hold Two Belts Hostage
Let’s assume Conor McGregor somehow pulls off the impossible and beats Eddie Alvarez, capturing the UFC lightweight belt and attaining his goal of becoming a two-division title holder. What then?
It’s clear McGregor is only in it if a fight makes dollar sense. Defending the lightweight belt might not be an option he would want to pursue after that. Who’s to say McGregor won’t want to go back up to welterweight to face Tyron Woodley? McGregor calling the shots means two belts could potentially be in limbo.
The UFC’s featherweight division is a joke already as it is. Aldo is the leader of the pack of guys McGregor could easily light up if he chooses to return south. The lightweight division might end up similarly.
