Basketball fans might remember LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh all signing a secret pact that they would schedule their contracts to end at the same time, allowing them to all sign with the same team. What if some of the tops stars in UFC did the same thing?
Luke Rockhold advocated for something similar today, when he said the other top contenders at middleweight should all refuse to fight. Well, what if Rockhold, Romero, Mousasi and a few others arranged to have their contracts end around the same time? It would allow another promotion to put together the money needed to sign all of them, knowing they would then be able to claim theirs is the real top middleweight division in MMA.
If you’re Scott Coker, it’s worth the effort to try and arrange something like this. Especially considering how low fighter-morale is in the UFC at the moment.
