Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones has had his share of ridicule for his actions.
Jones has been a subject of controversy stemming from his April 2015 hit-and-run incident that resulted in the UFC stripping his title and 18 months probation. He has received even more heat after being pulled over and cited for multiple traffic violations this past week.
Video footage of Jones’ encounter with the police officer surfaced online, he is shown verbally berating the officer throughout the traffic stop. He was later arrested for violating probation and given 60 hours of community service for his actions.
Loads of hilarious memes and jokes about Jones have been circulating through social media, but there is a new one that takes the cake. UFC Heavyweight Derrick “The Beast” Lewis has shared a photo on instagram, showing what the former light heavyweight champion may look like during the fight.
Well done, Mr. Lewis. Well done.
Many fans were worried that the legal troubles that “Bones” encountered would keep him from fighting at UFC 197 against Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. Jones is still scheduled to fight, but Cormier had to bow out due to injury. His replacement, #6 ranked Ovince Saint Preux, will step in on short notice to face Jones for the interim belt. OSP has shown potential in fights against Shogun Rua and Patrick Cummins, but could be overmatched if Jones looks like his old self on April 23.
It has been a hectic year for Jones, who hopes to fight for the first time since January 2015, his last bout being a successful title defense against Cormier. Once known as the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet, it will be interesting to see if Jones can regain prime form and continue fighting without any more legal issues. The 28 year old has shown an interest in fighting at heavyweight in the past, but his future is totally up in the air at this point.
