UFC 202 was well and truly amazing. Whether you are a fan of Nate Diaz or Conor McGregor, the main event delivered. The second part of their rivalry is now in the books after a thrilling five-round encounter last night.
The memory of McGregor’s UFC 196 loss to Diaz is somewhat more distant now. That said, a third fight is almost certain now that it’s 1-1. Diaz was able to land some great shots on McGregor in both fights, but last night the ball was in the Irishman’s court.
The Outstanding Rematch
Fans in attendance at the T-Mobile Arena for UFC 202 got to see what these two guys are famous for. Excellent fighting skills were on show, with neither man willing to back down for even a second.
McGregor was able to land numerous knockdowns early on, but Diaz rallied back later in the fight. When all was said and done, McGregor vs. Diaz 2 was a hard fight to score. The bout earned fight of the night honours.
Who Won?
The official judges decision was handed down, and Conor McGregor received the victory by majority decision. One judge scored the fight a draw, with both other judges giving ‘The Notorious’ the nod.
But the strike stats make for a very interesting read.

UFC 202 will go down as one of the greatest combat sports of all-time. From the start right to the main event, the Las Vegas-based pay-per-view had everything. Plenty of finishes and exciting fights, and of course the rivalry between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
The two entertaining stars of the main event had painted a great picture during fight week. Videos of their infamous bottle-throwing press conference went viral as fans awaited their rematch.
The War of UFC 202
When it finally came around, Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor 2 was astounding. Both men left everything they had in the octagon, and the roof was raised in the T-Mobile Arena. It really was one of the best fights you’ll ever see.
We all knew ‘The Notorious’ and Diaz were massively talented, but fights like the UFC 202 main event are few and far between. It wasn’t only the fight itself, it was more an accumulation of everything. It did not end in the octagon though.
There’s More
The UFC 202 press conference was sensationally cancelled. In recent memory there have seldom been PPV cards like UFC 202 that didn’t have a post-fight presser. In stepped Nate Diaz to save the day.
The events of UFC 202 will likely go down as the most incredible spectacle of all-time. No matter who you were supporting during last night’s festivities, it was truly an amazing event.
There were no titles on the line, but huge amounts of pride and arguably the direction of the UFC’s future were at stake. All the attention was on the main event rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.
Revenge or Repeat
McGregor vs. Diaz 2 was all about revenge or repeat. Could Diaz repeat the crazy upset he pulled off at UFC 196, or would the Irish star get one back? With a full camp behind him this time around, most fans and fighters were picking Nate Diaz.
As it turned out though, ‘The Notorious’ looked way better than he did at UFC 196. Once again fighting at welterweight, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor put on one of the greatest fights of all-time.
War
Conor McGregor had predicted a massive war in this grudge match, but not many expected it to be as purely thrilling as it was. Nate Diaz’s granite chin was on full display, and there were so many twists and turns throughout.
You need to watch this fight.

It seems rumors of former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones coming back to the Octagon sooner rather than later is because USADA’s findings have been revealed and Jones didn’t exactly take estrogen blockers per se.
According to UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping, he overheard confidential information about what Jones was taking to get him pulled off the UFC 200 card and sanctioned.
No laughing matter: Bisping says Jones may be right about tainted “supplements”
In a recent episode of MMA on SiriusXM, Bisping revealed that Jones may have been taking a ‘generic version’ of Cialis, a drug to aid in erectile dysfunction. The pill was said to contain estrogen blockers which he was unaware of and so Jones’ claim that he might have been taking tainted supplements turns out to be quite plausible.
“It turns out Jon Jones didn’t take the estrogen blockers or whatever it was and, therefore, he may be coming back sooner rather than later,” said Bisping.
“I hear that the supplement in question, and it’s not even a supplement, was a sex aid, Cialis, but it was a generic version. It wasn’t the brand name. It apparently has estrogen blockers in it. That’s what he took and he’s maybe just looking at a little slap on the wrist.”

UFC 202 is just 24 hours away, and the hype is reaching unheard of levels. The main event is garnering all the attention, as Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz prepare to dance again. They first fought at UFC 196, and the result has led to an insane rivalry.
Fighting after just 11 days notice the first time, Diaz and McGregor made good of their short time in the limelight together. This time around though, it’s been a solid eight week period. Things really got heated this week too.
Bottle Fight
Diaz and McGregor furthered their reputations as the most entertaining mixed martial arts stars on Wednesday night. Not everyone apporved of their behaviour, but it certainly brought a lot more attention to UFC 202.
In light of a PPV card that many are predicting will break the record of highest buys, we’ve compiled the ScrapDigest staff predictions.
In the almost 25 year history of modern day MMA there has been some really violent rivalries between fighters. Unsurprisingly, most of the entries on this list also sold a lot of PPVs as a result of the violent nature of their rivalry.
A few notable omissions before we begin. Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock did not make this list on account of their rivalry being so one-sided. Yes, there was quite a bit of violence in the feud, its just that it was all coming from Tito and landing on Ken. For that reason it was deemed to be less violent than the ones which did make the list.
An honorable mention goes out to Sam Stout and Spencer Fisher, who had a bloody rivalry between 2007-08 that resulted in a couple of great fights.
Dan Henderson and Michael Bisping didn’t make the cut either, this despite Hendo’s big H-bomb that landed on Bisping’s chin at UFC 100. As of this writing their rivalry is only one fight deep (though the second fight has been scheduled), and for that reason it was deemed a little less violent than the rivalries that did make the cut.
Here are the top 7 most violent feuds in MMA history…
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor has a lot on his plate this weekend. Tonight (Saturday August 20, 2016) he’ll face Nate Diaz. The UFC 202 main event is blanketed in a deep backstory.
Diaz submitted McGregor at UFC 196 this past March, handing the Irishman his first loss for the promotion. Diaz also threw a spanner in the works in terms of the UFC’s future plans. The question now is whether McGregor will be able to get back on track.
McGregor vs. Everyone
McGregor and Diaz successfully made weight on Friday night, finally making their fight official. There’s been a lot of talk about their eventful rivalry, especially after Wednesday’s crazy press conference chaos.
Diaz is not the only one with ‘The Notorious’ on his hit list though. The outspoken Irish striker has been getting his name in the mix in the worlds of boxing and pro wrestling. Using his massive reach on social media, McGregor has rattled many cages.
Beef with WWE
McGregor called out the entire WWE roster recently, leading to a huge backlash from the pro wrestling community. One certain WWE-UFC crossover had remained quiet though. Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar didn’t fire back at first.
Until today…

There’s been so much happening in the lead up to UFC 202 that it’s been hard to keep up with. In the past week alone, we’ve seen some of the craziest moments of Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor’s colourful rivalry.
The hype got taken to a whole new level on Wednesday night, as the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference descended in to absolute chaos in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White was forced to call off the presser in the midst of a near-riot.
Madness
Diaz and McGregor caused mayhem by launching bottles and cans at each other during the moment of insanity. Videos of the carnage went viral, but many were claiming the confrontation seemed staged.
Dana White would go on record saying that a member of the crowd had filed a lawsuit after being hit by a stray bottle. It was also revealed that McGregor and Diaz could face fines and suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission.
More Madness
Weigh-ins day arrived on Friday August 19, and fans waited eagerly for McGregor and Diaz’s final face-to-face before UFC 202. Who would be showing nerves in these final tense moments before battle?
We are now merely a day away before the biggest UFC fight of the year between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz and the anticipation is at a fever pitch. Before they step into the Octagon however, there are a slew of media obligations left to fulfill. Both men have appeared in a plethora of interviews lately, as well as a few intense scuffles (some of which involved flying bottles of water).
Diaz was interviewed by BT Sport recently, and during the conversation Diaz went off on the UFC for protecting McGregor too much and not giving him his due respect. The Stockton Bad Boy was critical of the way the UFC handled his career — having him fight all the hardcore bouts for the greater part of the last 10 years while claiming that all McGregor had to do was talk his way into big fights.
Moving forward, Diaz says he’ll only take the big fights and is done fighting ‘just for fun.’
Nate Diaz is out to get the big fights late in his career
“I’m going to fight this fight and then, whoever wants it, it better be a big deal,” said Diaz. “Like I said, I’m done fighting all these people just for fun.”
Recently, Diaz was also critical of fighters negotiating fights on social media, believing this is not the way to go about calling someone out. Diaz believes if you plan to call someone out, you should do it the right way.
“If you want to fight me, I don’t want to hear no Twitter call out. We can’t hear you up here,” said Diaz. “You better say my name, and you better say it loud. Otherwise, I don’t hear you.”
Aside from not getting his just due, Diaz was also irked that the UFC was making him out to be a much bigger opponent than McGregor, giving the Irish fighter an excuse to say he was simply a bigger man should Diaz emerge victorious.
“Last time I checked, he was the 145-lb. champ. I’ve been fighting at 155 for the last 15 years, so how am I all of a sudden this monstrous guy?” said Diaz. “ It’s funny how the UFC is pushing that I’m a welterweight.
“Don’t be twisting up what I am and what I’m not. You guys are trying to twist the media, I mean, putting this guy out to be some little person I beat up. I don’t think so. We’re the same size. I’m taller, or maybe a little bigger, who cares?”
Diaz and McGregor face each other this Saturday, in the main event of UFC 202 which takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The bout will be fought at welterweight just like the first encounter, but already, McGregor’s legion of supporters are quick to point out that Diaz has huge size on the Irishman.
According to Dana White, UFC 202 is trending to be bigger than any other UFC PPV in history. That shouldn’t be too surprising however, as the last time Conor McGregor vs. Nate Diaz main evented a PPV it was the highest grossing show in UFC history. Technically UFC 100 was purchased by more people and establishments than UFC 196, with that event reaching 1.6 million buys and 196 getting 1.5 million buys, but the difference in PPV cost makes 196 the higher grossing event.
2016 has been an epic year for mixed martial arts. So far this year we have seen UFC 200, the landmark $4 billion dollar sale of the company, 7 UFC title changes, and if Dana White is correct, UFC 202 and UFC 196 could be the two highest grossing shows in company history- all in under 8 months.
UFC 202 may very well be the next big moment in a truly epic year.
