3. MSG and UFC Gate Record

Recently UFC President Dana White announced that UFC 205 has already broken Madison Square Garden’s gate record. White did not follow that up by giving any official numbers, but the current MSG record was for the 1999 fight between Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis which brought in a $13.5 million gate.

If White is correct, it would mean that UFC 205 would also break the UFC’s all-time gate record as well. That record is currently held by UFC 129 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. On that night Georges St. Pierre defeated Jake Shields in front of 55,000 people for a $12 million gate.

Considering all the big-time fights and events that have taken place at Madison Square Garden throughout the years, this is a significant achievement.
