1. Champion at Two Weight Divisions

Whether you support what Conor McGregor is doing or not, this is what he has set out to accomplish since the very beginning.

It’s hard to believe, but back in 2012 very few MMA fans outside of Europe knew who Conor McGregor was. Those following the Cage Warriors promotion did however; he was the guy gunning for both the lightweight and featherweight championships.
What Conor McGregor did in 2012 is exactly what he is trying to replicate in 2016. On June 2nd 2012, Conor defeated Dave Hill by RNC to win the Cage Warriors featherweight championship. Then, instead of defending the belt he just won, he went up in weight divisions and won the Cage Warriors lightweight belt by defeating Ivan Buchinger via 1st round KO on New Years Eve. He then abandoned both belts without having defended them to go to the UFC.

Nobody has been a 2-division champion in the UFC, in fact only BJ Penn and Randy Couture have ever held belts in different divisions. BJ Penn famously tried to hold belts simultaneously when he challenged GSP at UFC 94, but that didn’t really work out too well for him.

Whether you agree with it or not however, at UFC 205 Conor McGregor has the chance to make history.
