Kimbo Slice
Before he was a bareknuckle brawling sensation and MMA star, Kimbo Slice was a bouncer at strip clubs in Miami.
Slice was a natural at his job and it was while working there that a high school friend known as ‘Icy’ Mike Ember offered him work as a bodyguard for ‘Reality Kings,’ his pornographic entertainment company.
It was Icy Mike who then got Slice involved in bareknuckle boxing and made what would prove to be a genius move in 2003 to videotape one of his fights and put it up on his porn website, which quickly led to it getting over two million views.
Kimbo soon became one of the first viral stars of the YouTube era and his notoriety helped pave the way for his eventual transition to MMA, fighting for the likes of Elite XC, UFC and Bellator, though he continued to work as the head of security for Reality Kings at the same time.
Slice had planned to release a book one day about his time working as a strip club bouncer, but alas he tragically passed due to heart failure at just 42-years-old in 2016.
