James Vick
Before he pursued fighting as a career, James Vick did dozens of jobs as he struggled to make ends meet, and one involved being a bouncer at several strip clubs.
As you might expect he has plenty of stories from his time working there, such as the time he was asked to drive a drunken customer home, only for things to turn ugly when the patron started threatening to hit him.
Eventually Vick had to pull the vehicle over to the side of the road and defend himself from being attacked before getting out and kneeing the drunk in the stomach, kicking him in the leg and punching him in the face, before leaving him by the side of the road and driving off.
What Vick didn’t realize was that the man appeared to have mafia connections and later that night two large Russian men came to the club looking for the man he’d left at the roadside, though luckily they didn’t cause him any trouble.
The strip-club gigs eventually paid off for Vick when his manager paid up the money so that he could go to Las Vegas to try out for ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ show, and the rest is history.
