Germaine de Randamie’s After The Bell Blows

The stakes were high for Germaine de Randamie when she fought Holly Holm in the UFC’s first ever female featherweight title fight at UFC 208 in 2017, and she appeared to be willing to win at all costs.

At the conclusion of the second round GDR landed what would prove to be the most potent combination of the fight, a hard one-two, after the bell that left Holm visibly rocked.

However, the referee turned a blind eye to the situation and so de Randamie escaped unpunished.

Remarkably, at the end of the third round GDR landed punches after the bell again and then stuck her tongue out and laughed.

“Oh man, she did it again!” Joe Rogan exclaimed in the commentary booth. “Take. A point. Away!”

As it turned out, the referee only saw fit to dish out a warning that if she did it again then she’d be deducted a point.

That had a major impact on the outcome of the fight as de Randamie would go on to win the title with a controversially close 48-47 verdict on the scorecards – meaning that had she been penalized the fight would have ended in a draw.
