GSP’s Groin
Tensions were running high during Georges St-Pierre’s fight with Thiago Alves at UFC 100 in 2009, and that lead to an uncharacteristic outburst from his normally zen-like coach Greg Jackson.
“I pulled my groin,” GSP had revealed to Jackson on his stool prior to the final round of the fight.
“I don’t care,” Jackson replied matter-of-factly. “I don’t care Georges. Hey, look at me – this is where champions are made, you understand me? Nothing matters now.
“Hit him with your groin!”
Thankfully St-Pierre didn’t take this advice to heart, but it did refocus him on the task at hand and he’d go on to win the final round and successfully defend his title.
