Michael Bisping’s Cup Change
Michael Bisping was left to deal with a rather unfortunate wardrobe malfuncation during his blockbuster title fight with Georges St-Pierre at at UFC 217 in 2017.
Towards the end of the round Bisping appeared to be having an issue with his groin protection, and sure enough, after the round was over the champion informed referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy that it had broken.
As such, the usual water-break and tactics talk had to be cut short while bisping reached inside his shorts, yanked out the cup and handed it to McCarthy.
Soon after McCarthy passed him a new protector, which Bisping casually stuck back down his shorts without making any attempt to fasten it in place.
McCarthy seemed skeptical about this, but agreed with Bisping to continue the bout and see how it went.
Unfortunately for Bisping his luck didn’t improve afterwards as GSP would go on to finish him with a rear-naked choke submission later in the round that followed.
