Clay Guida Fight

Sanchez has been in many crazy wars in the Octagon over the years, but perhaps the most memorable of all was a three-round toe-to-toe slugfest with Clay Guida back in 2009.

After an electrifying staredown the two almost literally ran at each other after the opening bell and began teeing off, with Sanchez soon gaining the upperhand with relentless barrages of punches and even a clean head kick that floored Guida.

However, Guida kept coming and in the second round he was able to get Sanchez to the mat and land ground and pound, though Sanchez unleashed vicious elbows from the bottom, leaving them both bloodsoaked.

The action continued in the final round with both still refusing to give an inch as they traded hard shots, eventually leading to Sanchez earning a split decision victory.

The fight would go on to be declared 2009’s ‘Fight Of The Year’, while in 2019 it was inducted into the ‘Fight Wing’ of the UFC’s Hall Of Fame.
