Most people would be scared to step into a bareknuckle street fight with a protege of Kimbo Slice just moments after he’d just knocked out a man in a matter of seconds, but not Jorge Masvidal.
This was when ‘Game Bred’ was still just a young man, before his MMA career had taken off, but he was completely fearless, and with his razor-sharp technical boxing he was soon getting the upperhand against the biiger man.
Ray’s gas tank gradually began to erode as Masvidal wisely worked to the body and made his larger opponent repeatedly miss with his own strikes.
Then punches to the head had Ray turning his back and dropping to his knees, and though he eventually got back up, Masvidal continued to outclass him until the exhausted Ray verbally submitted.
There was still some disbelief that this young fighter had beaten up one of Miami’s most feared bareknuckle brawlers, but he’d go on to prove it wasn’t a fluke by again making him quit in their backyard rematch.
