Conor McGregor vs. Paulie Malignaggi
While not an MMA fight, but rather a boxing match, it’s simply to good to ignore this infamous series of gym wars between Conor McGregor and Paulie Malignaggi in the lead-up to his fight against Floyd Mayweather in 2017.
Malignaggi had previously talked trash about McGregor , stating that he could beat him with one hand tied behind his back, so the Irishman called his bluff by inviting him to spar during his training camp and Malignaggi agreed.
After their first session McGregor posted a picture in which he had his hands behind his back while sparring the tired looking boxing champion.
After their second sparring session Malignaggi was furious when McGregor posted pictures that suggested he’d been floored, insisting it had only been a push.
McGregor responded with video highlights in which he was seen snapping Malignaggi’s head back with a punch, sending him reeling into the ropes after a flurry and later dropping him with a clipping punch.
Malignaggi claimed the footage was misleading, but others in attendance that night, including Dana White suggested that he’d been badly beaten.
Malignaggi quit the camp afterwards and has called for a fight with McGregor ever since, but has only managed to fight his teammate Artem Lobov in a bareknuckle boxing fight, which he lost by decision.
