Ryan Jenson vs. Steve Steinbeiss

Steve Steinbeiss made his UFC debut back in 2009, but wasn’t given a fair chance to show what he could do thanks to referee Garry Ritter.

Admittedly, Steinbeiss was in a tough spot towards the final minute of the opening round with Jenson working for a guillotine choke on the mat.

Ritter moved in to check and see if Steinbeiss was still ok to continue, at which point the fighter gave him the thumbs up, but the official somehow failed to see it and thought he’d gone limp, so he ended the fight.

“Anybody who saw it live or who’s seen it will tell you how bad of a referee judgment call it was,” Steinbeiss said afterwards, but the decision stood and after losing his next fight he was released from the UFC.
