Fabricio Werdum vs. Brandon Vera
Brandon Vera entered into his heavyweight fight with Fabricio Werdum at UFC 85 looking to bounce back from his first ever loss, but he found himself in a tough spot late in the opening round when the Brazilian mounted him and started landing ground and pound.
However, Vera didn’t appear to be badly hurt and was intelligently defended himself with his arms to deflect most of the blows with 20 seconds of the round remaining.
Referee Dan Miragliotta saw it differently though and brought an end to the fight, leaving Vera relatively unscathed and bewildered at why he hadn’t been allowed to continue.
