Drew Dober vs. Leandro Silva
Referee Eduardo Herdy made a terrible error of judgement during a fight between Drew Dober and Leandro Silva at UFC Fight Night 62 in 2015.
In the second round Silva dropped to the mat working on a guillotine choke, but Dober defended against it and his opponent’s grip gradually loosened, which would leave him in and advantageous position on top.
However, Herdy suddenly ended the fight, believing that Dober was unconscious, despite it being quite clear that he wasn’t.
Needless to say Dober was stunned by the outcome and revealed he planned to appeal the decision.
Luckily for him the referee admitted he’d made a mistake and the Brazilian commmission who oversaw the event ensured that the result was amended to a no-contest.
