3. Matt Serra

Sorry Matt Serra, but a great champion you were not.

Nobody will ever be able to take it away from Matt Serra that he beat Georges St. Pierre at UFC 69, forever cementing himself in the history books.  Serra took a very unconventional route to a title shot as well, having won season 4 of the Ultimate Fighter.

That season for TUF was titled “the Comeback” and consisted of fighters who had already fought in the UFC before instead of up-and-comers, with the winner receiving a title shot.  Serra would defeat Chris Lytle via split-decision in the finals.

Some debate can be had about whether Serra’s defeat of GSP or Holly Holm’s defeat of Ronda Rousey is the greatest upset in UFC history.

In the rematch Georges St. Pierre destroyed Serra, so much so that nobody was asking for a rubber match between the two, and that is what earns Serra the #3 ranking on this list.

  1. wow, what an idiot. Cormier is a worse champion than Serra and Esparza? Wow.. what a fucking idiot.

  2. And the irony.. He says Barnett is the worst of all time because he fails tests, but Cormier is the second worst because he isn’t better than Jon Jones a MULTIPLE STEROID CHEAT!
