tied for 7th: Micoic Beats Werdum in Brazil/Miocic Beats Overeem in Cleveland

If you go back and watch UFC 198 from Brazil, pretty much every fight involves a Brazilian guy winning. Up until the main event the only non-Brazilian to beat a Brazilian, was Bryan Barberena (also beat Sage Northcutt earlier this year). Brazilian crowds don’t skip the prelims so they were there for 6 hours watching Brazilians beat up people. But then the main event came, and Stipe Miocic made the country go absolutely silent.

Brazil went quiet, but Cleveland got very, very loud.

The very proud Cleveland native Miocic, won the UFC Heavyweight Championship by beating Fabricio Werdum in Brazil, and now would defend his title against Alistair Overeem in Cleveland. Just to make things real fun, if Overeem won he would get to defend the belt in Holland. But Overeem didn’t win. After a crazy first round where Miocic looked like he might get stopped, he came back to win it as the city went crazy.

A very big 2016 for Stipe Miocic, and a very big year for Cleveland.
