2016 has been the biggest year in the history of the UFC. There really can be no arguing that fact. Look at everything that has happened in the last 9 months:

  • UFC 196 becomes the highest grossing UFC PPV of all time.
  • UFC goes all out with a UFC 200 super-card.
  • The UFC is sold for #4 billion.
  • UFC 202 breaks UFC 196’s revenue record.

And this is not even counting the super-card the company will be putting on in November at Madison Square Garden.

Despite still existing on the fringes of mainstream sport, the UFC is bigger than they ever have been. Today’s UFC fighters have a much larger spotlight shun on them. Some fighters are thriving in this atmosphere, and creating moments that end up going viral throughout the whole world.

With that in mind, here are 2016’s top nine viral moments so far…

9. Michael Bisping Wins Middleweight Championship

2016 has been the biggest year in the career of Michael Bisping. First in February he defeated Anderson Silva in London, something Bisping felt was important for him to do in his career. For much of Bisping’s career he sat just shy of title contention while Silva held onto the middleweight title.

Then Bisping filled in for an injured Chris Weidman at UFC 199, though few gave him a chance heading into the bout. To many people’s surprise, Bisping threw the entire middleweight division for a loop when he knocked Luke Rockhold out in the first round.

Now Bisping has a chance to go 3W-0L in 2016, when he faces his old UFC 100 rival Dan Henderson in Manchester later this month.
