2. Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman II UFC 168
In the build-up towards UFC 168 the question being asked is whether Weidman’s first win was a fluke. Silva had been clowning around in their first bout, leaving Weidman an opening to punch him in the mouth and take his title. Silva supporters believed that had Silva been more serious in the cage he would not have lost. Though it should be noted that Silva’s “clowning around” was a strategy he had used in the past as well to lure opponents into fighting more aggressive.
Then in this fight the second round was just getting going when Weidman checked an Anderson Silva leg kick and a legend was broken. It looked as though Silva’s career might be over, but he would be back 13 months later. In his first fight back he defeated Nick Diaz, though the win was later over-turned due to a failed drug test.
