That this fight happened is tragic, the fight itself was tragic, and the finish to the fight was still tragic.
CM Punk was delusional in thinking that he actually had a chance in this fight. He was delusional when he told the media he felt he could earn a title shot if he got 3-4 wins in the UFC and his entire camp was also delusional when they even let him get in there with a legit mixed martial artist.
What makes the ending of this fight tragic is that you know when Gall was on top of him that Punk realized everyone who was telling him “he can’t” were right. Even though he was a guy who cut in line in front of legit fighters, him having his dreams crushed in front of the entire world is pretty tragic.
