4. Nick Diaz vs. Georges St. Pierre II
These two fought for the UFC welterweight championship in the main event of UFC 158 in Montreal, QC Canada.
GSP took Diaz down and controlled him on the ground for pretty much the whole fight. The crowd chanted “F*&k you Diaz”, and GSP came away with yet another successful title defence.
Later different bits of info started to leak out regarding what went on behind the scenes during their bout. GSP’s camp recently acknowledged that St. Pierre was suffering food poisoning after drinking some bad watermelon juice the evening before. The Diaz camp started claiming that no drug testing had been done leading up to the fight and that GSP was on steroids. Diaz himself would later claim that GSP didn’t even make weight, and there was a massive cover-up to keep that secret.
Ever since news of GSP’s impending return started to filter throughout the MMA community, rumours of a possible rematch between GSP and Diaz started to surface. Fuelling the fire was GSP’s answer when asked about the bout, calling the rematch “very possible”. He also went on to say that he would beat Diaz “way worse” should they meet a second time.
