1. Precision Beats Power and Timing Beats Speed
After Conor McGregor knocked out Jose Aldo at UFC 194 he said “timing beats power, and precision beats speed”.
It seems as though everyone has forgotten about Conor’s ability to knock people out. This is most likely due to Conor’s inability to knock out Nate Diaz despite landing some very clean shots on him. But being critical of someone’s striking because they can’t knock out Nate Diaz is a little like being critical of Matt Hughes for not making Royce Gracie tap.
Conor McGregor is the guy that knocked out Jose Aldo in “terr-tine seconds” (Irish for “13 seconds”). Conor packs a lot behind his punches and quite possibly has the best stand-up in the game at the moment.
Don’t believe that Conor is possibly the best stand-up fighter p4p right now? Just ask Floyd Mayweather, who was recently quoted by TMZ as saying Conor has a great stand-up game. Mayweather is a guy who knows a thing or two about stand-up fighting, so his word carries a bit of weight.
Conor and his coaches are right, he will knock Eddie Alvarez out in the 1st round.
