You might not believe it now, but there was a time when BJ Penn was one of the best fighters on the planet. The Hawaiian was a two-weight champion, capturing the welterweight title as well as the 155lb belt. He defended the title three times after beating Jens Pulver, beating Sean Sherk, Kenny Florian and Diego Sanchez.

Like Khabib, he broke those fighters, although in a very different and arguably more entertaining way. When Penn was on top of the world he was a force of nature and that’s why we’re giving him the top spot on this list – for now.
