5. Vitor Belfort on Reebok deal
Many fighters were critical of the Reebok sponsorship deal when it was announced, but only one compared it to slavery: Vitor Belfort.
Belfort made public comments stating he was losing millions of dollars because of the deal, and said that fighters are “pretty much living in slavery”. He would continue on to say that the money lost from sponsorships was even harder to take considering the rising black-market cost of human-growth hormone and other PEDs…ok he didn’t say that, but he was probably thinking it.
Comparing the situation of UFC fighters to slavery did not go over well with many people.
