No.3: Frankie Edgar vs. Cub Swanson – 4.56mins of Round 5
We now move onto the top three latest finishes in UFC history, and all three are the very definition of a last-gasp finish.
Former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar dominated Cub Swanson on the mat in the first four rounds of their fight at UFC Fight Night 57 in 2014, and he didn’t let up in the fifth and final round either.
However, despite leaving Swanson battered and bloodied it looked like he might have to settle for a decision victory as the fight entered into it’s final seconds with his opponent already having survived two guillotine choke attempts and an arm triangle.
Edgar wasn’t about to give up trying though and so he went all-in on one last attempt, going for a nasty neck crank, and despite all he’d previously endured, Swanson could take no more and submitted, despite there being just four seconds left on the clock.
