Carly Baker’s Cricket Star Boyfriend Killed By Train After Police Chase
Back in 2012, UK Octagon Girl Carly Baker began dating 23-year-old rising cricket star Tom Maynard, but it was to quickly prove to be an ill-fated relationship.
Late one night, just a few weeks after they first started dating, an emotional Maynard called Baker saying that he was feeling down and was going to come and visit, telling her that, “you are the only thing that makes me happy.”
However, Baker feared that Maynard was drunk and warned him not to drive.
Baker was right to suspect Maynard was inebriated. In fact, he was later found to have been high on cocaine, ecstasy and had been drinking heavily with two other cricket stars at a club in Mayfair, before going to a nightclub in London, where they picked up three sisters and returned home.
Maynard then left at 3.15am, and after calling Baker he ignored her warning and proceeded to drive to see her.
On his way, Maynard’s erratic driving caught the attention of police who gave chase until he fled his car and escaped
50 minutes later Maynard was discovered dead after being electrecuted and ran over by an oncoming train nearby.
An inquest into his death later returned with an ‘accidental death’ verdict, though the forensive pathologist couldn’t determine whether Maynard had been electructed before or after being hit by the train.
