Georges St-Pierre’s Long Hiatus
Georges St-Pierre has been one of the UFC’s most consistently high-drawing stars of all-time, so it was a hammerblow to the promotion when at only 32-year-old announced that he was taking an indefinite hiatus from the sport after his 9th title defense at UFC 167 in November of 2013.
Even just a year out would have been hard to take, but worse still, it would be four years before St-Pierre did finally return.
St-Pierre would prove his worth immediately by drawing close to 900,000 PPV buys for his comeback fight against Michael Bisping, but after winning that middleweight title fight, he once again stepped away from the sport and would eventually announce his retirement, despite still appearing to be in his prime.
