Phil Baroni vs. Evan Tanner
At UFC 45 referee Larry Landless quickly realized he’d just made a bad call when the losing fighter began punching him in the face!
Baroni had his moments in the fight, but Tanner would then hurt and then mount Baroni, before proceeding to land punches and elbows as the fighter defended himself.
Landlass asked if Baroni was ok, but though he replied that he was, the ref misunderstood and thought he was verbally submitting, leading to him waving of the fight, at which point Baroni angrily began shouting and trying to punch him in the face for not letting him continue.
“I wish I could take that one back,” Landless admitted years later.
