2. “Healthy Dominick Cruz”- Dominick Cruz
When talking about the UFC men’s bantamweight division you normally have to refer to two different scenarios: the division with a “healthy Dominick Cruz” and the same division but without a “healthy Dominick Cruz”.
Dominick Cruz once went 3 years between fights due to injuries, forcing him to vacate his UFC bantamweight championship in the process. At the time of his final fight before his long layoff, Cruz had just defeated Demetrious Johnson to defend his belt, and his previous fight was a successful title defence against Urijah Faber.
Cruz had to have multiple procedures done for a torn ACL, and eventually had to relinquish all claims to the title when a torn groin forced him to pull out of a bout with interim champion Renan Barao.
After 3 years away Cruz has come back and won his first 3, has his belt back, and is once again king of the division.
