1. Reebok Deal

The UFC and Reebok announced the signing of a $70 million deal in 2014. The deal would involve all fight gear worn in the octagon to be made by Reebok. Outside sponsors were being banned from making deals with fighters.

It is a source of quite a bit of controversy. The compensation the fighters receive from the Reebok deal is far less than what many fighters could have gotten from outside endorsements.

Longtime UFC cutman “Stitch” Duran, spoke out negatively about the deal and was promptly fired for doing so. Fighters such as Tim Kennedy and Vitor Belfort were very vocally critical of the deal, but in the end there wasn’t anything they could do about it.
